What if your anxiety isn’t coming from what is happening today… but from what your brain learned a long time ago?
People living with chronic anxiety often try to understand what triggers their reactions.
A look.
A comment.
A meeting.
A phone call.
An unexpected change.
Everything can seem to become a source of tension.
And yet, these situations are not always the true source of the problem.
Sometimes, they are simply the trigger for a much older mechanism.
Our brain is extraordinary.
It learns very quickly how to protect us.
When a significant experience occurs, especially during childhood or adolescence, the brain may store a conclusion that seemed true at the time:
“I’m not good enough.”
“I have to be perfect to be accepted.”
“I’m only safe when I’m in control of everything.”
Years later, these beliefs can continue to influence our emotions and behaviours… even when the circumstances have completely changed.
This is why some people can fully understand that their fears are irrational… yet still struggle to free themselves from them.
Because the issue is not always rooted in logic.
It can lie in the emotional imprint left by certain experiences.
When we are able to revisit these experiences with the right resources, within a safe and respectful environment, it can become possible to ease that emotional burden, give new meaning to what we have been through, and reconnect with a sense of inner freedom we may have thought was lost.
The goal is not to erase the past.
It is to stop allowing the past to dictate our present.
I have the privilege of supporting women, men, managers and executives who wish to regain lasting balance, move beyond limiting beliefs, and transform their inner challenges into a source of strength — allowing them to move forward with greater serenity, confidence and freedom.
